The city of Del Rio, population 48,145, is located 2 hours from San Antonio on the Texas-Mexico border between El Paso and Laredo, Texas, and across the Rio Grande from its Mexican neighbor, Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila (population 148,669). Del Rio is home to Laughlin Air Force Base, the busiest pilot training base in the United States Air Force. Del Rio is a freight switching point on the Union Pacific main line.
